Lets get to work

Well, today is my second day at my new job and I like it so much better then my last job. I am with people that actually understand me ( as much as anyone can understand me) and that similar to me and my personality. How many other jobs can i find someone who plays world of warcraft also.
Plus, the job so much easier and i might actually be able to get school work done while i work. Which is so much better and they schedule me on MY schedule instead of theirs. The only draw back is the HUMONGOUS cut in pay. But they say that if you really like your job it doesn't matter the pay.

Moved in?!?

Finally I am beginning to feel like i am settling in. I have been so busy the past couple of days that i forgot to turn the electricity on in my name and i was rudely awoken today with all of my appliances stopped. They charged $65 to turn it on today.

2 of the classes i needed to take this quarter to continue on in my classes had filled up by the time my transfer orientation had occurred. So now I have to wait until next quarter and i am not happy the way OSU has dealt with my transfer. I am smart enough to know which classes i need to take and could of scheduled my self. long before the classes were filled.

Oh! and i got the job i had interviewed for so thats a good thing i can't wait to start.

Job Interview

Yay! for working! Because i am moving soon I cannot continue to work in the same place so i am diving head first into the job market and have already had an interview. Its a campus part time job so it only pays about 7 bucks. If i were to get the job i would only expect to take home about 100 dollars a month. I am used to getting more then that a day So i am pretty bummed out about it but its REALLY close to where I live. I am way more then qualified to get the job so i doubt i wont get it but maybe i am setting the bar for myself too low? Well, I have moving and applying for loans to worry about so I will just see what happens.

Google Code Jam 2006

Oh, Shit! a competiton for coders? (click,type,click) YOU'RE REGISTERED!!...What have I done?

In my boredom I have forced myself out of my shell and have started to compete in something! Do I have what it takes? Can I handle another ego blow if I lose?

I tried to compete in the Google competition with the puzzles in the Davinci Code thing I was sure i was a shoe in for that and nothing :(

But this is different! I can do this.. wait.. only 1,000 winners go on! OH no! I can't be in the 1% of the coders that try for this. but maybe I am. Do I have the confidence to even try for the first competition?

What if i win! I would feel so smart I wouldn't believe it. 1% of the people that tried and I get chosen. Oh I can't stand the pressure why can't it be September 5th, NOW!

WAIT!.. topcoder competetion just for college students! (click, type, click) YOU'RE REGISTERED!!... Oh, Shit! What have I done?

Dell's Battery Debalce

Ha Ha! (laughed like Nelson from The Simpons) Dell for such a ginormous recall. Nobody can screw up like you do. But seriously you would think they would pick something up about this in R&D. Batteries getting too hot and and possibly setting fire!

Also, kudos to Dell for spreading the word. I am sure such a problem has been addressed more then a small blurb of a link on the start page has been used to get the attention of the 4.1 million batteries that need to be recalled. And of course it has been mentioned in a marketing e-mail sent to all of its home and office users.

Review for Windows Vista (Beta) - 3 outta 5 and thats not really it's fault!

Yay! for Windows Vista (Beta)! I haven't had this much fun poking around a $10 OS in a long time. Although it feels kinda stuck in here with not a whole lot of drivers to support my hardware or software to run it on (It makes me feel like i am using an old Mac!).

Goods:

  • Fancy graphics such as this thingy and this other thingy
  • New and less confusing looking start menu
  • more games!
Bads:
  • Those fancy graphics eat up way too many reasourses
  • Software isn't supported for Vista yet
    • Itunes doesn't support a 64 bit OS! bad Apple. BAD!
    • Google pack only supports XP!? Do i see evil in googles midst?
Alright so I have no idea how to give a good technical review for things but i try. Over all I really like the new OS and i hope that as soon as people start making software for it Vista will be a vision of tomorrow!
